I hope you have been enjoying the summer in particular with our flagship conference, ISIT, as well as with some of the IT Schools (ESIT and Indian School). This is the June issue of our society newsletter.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area International Workshop on coding and data storage took place on Jun. 18-19, 2022 at the University Town International Hotel in Guangzhou. This workshop was jointly organized by Guangdong University of Technology and the IEEE Information Theory Society Guangzhou Chapter.
Toby Berger passed away on May 25, 2022 at the age of 81. He was one of the icons of information theory, recognized with numerous awards including the IEEE Information Theory Society Claude E. Shannon Award.
Pravin Varaiya has died
Pravin P. Varaiya died on June 10th at his home in Berkeley, CA at the age of 81.

Bob Lucky Passed Away
Robert Wendell Lucky (Bob Lucky) passed away on March 10, 2022, at the age of 86. He was a research engineer and a manager at multiple levels at Bell Labs and Bellcore. Bob was a pioneer and a leader in our research fields and technical societies.
