Postdoc Position on GRAND
Open PostDoc position. Will work in Prof. Médard’s Network Coding and Reliable Communications Group in the Research Laboratory for Electronics at MIT. Their research will be conducted in close collaboration with Prof. Rabia Yazicigil (Boston University), Prof. Ken Duffy (Maynooth University), and Prof. Anantha Chandrakasan (MIT).

GRAND challenge

Guessing Random Additive Noise Decoding (GRAND) is the first algorithm that can decode all moderate redundancy codes with optimal accuracy, offering huge potential for future communication systems. You will be part of the team, including the original inventors (Médard and Duffy), that is leading algorithmic developments and has been the first to implement GRAND in hardware.

Information can on the project can be found at https://www.granddecoder.mit.edu

Research challenges

  • Work collaboratively in developing the standard for the next generation of error correction decoders, which will be universal.
  • Invent new algorithms, develop new theory using non-standard approaches to analyze them, and work on designs that enable rapid translation it into hardware.
  • Take the lead on disseminating research results, including leading the writing of conference and journal papers.

YOUR PROFILE

  • You have a Ph.D. in communications, information theory or applied probability, and have an interest in both algorithm design and communication systems.
  • You wish to be at the forefront of developing novel algorithms for communication systems.
  • You have excellent written communication skills.
  • You have published conference and journal articles, preferably as first author, in leading venues.
  • You are an independent thinker that is eager to participate in multi-disciplinary projects drawing from diverse research fields.
  • You wish to work in a highly collaborative team integrated across theory and architecture.
  • You wish to learn to mentor graduate students.

OUR OFFER

The PostDoc contract will be initially for one year, but may be extended for another year after a performance review.

Interested candidates should send a CV, two selected publications, two references, and a cover letter to [email protected] by July 10.
