2020 Information Theory Society Paper Award Winners
The recipients of the 2020 Information Theory Society Paper Award are: Emmanuel Abbe, Afonso S. Bandeira, Georgina Hall “Exact Recovery in the Stochastic Block Model” and Elchanan Mossel, Joe Neeman, Allan Sly, “Consistency Thresholds for the Planted Bisection Model”.

The 2020 Information Theory Society Paper Award was decided by the Board of Governors in their Annual Meeting on June 21. The Society is pleased to announce that the recipients of this award are: 

Emmanuel Abbe, Afonso S. Bandeira, Georgina Hall, “Exact Recovery in the Stochastic Block Model”, in IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, vol. 62, no. 1, pp. 471-487, Jan. 2016.

and

Elchanan Mossel, Joe Neeman, and Allan Sly, “Consistency Thresholds for the Planted Bisection Model”, in Electronic Journal of Probability, no. 21, pp. 1-24, 2016.

The award will be formally presented at next year’s ISIT awards ceremony, but we would like to give congratulations now to the winners.

The purpose of the Information Theory Paper Award is to recognize exceptional publications in the field and to stimulate interest in and encourage contributions to fields of interest of the Society.
