Call for Nominations for the Editor-in-Chief for
The IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications
Nomination deadline: 23 April 2018
IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications (TWC)
is co-sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society and IEEE Signal Processing Society. It is administrated by the Transactions on Wireless Communications Steering Committee, whose current members are: Jeffrey Andrews, Urbashi Mitra (Chair), Ross Murch, Sumei Sun, and Martin Haenggi (Editor-in-Chief, non-voting member).
Since its inception, TWC has undergone phenomenal growth, both in terms of size and impact. Currently, there are more than 1,700 new submissions to the journal every year, and the quality metrics including impact factor, eigenfactor, article influence, and total citations are consistently among the highest in the field.
The current Editor-in-Chief will complete his term on December 31, 2018. The TWC Steering Committee is soliciting nominations for Editor-in-Chief candidates. The ideal candidate is well respected in the field, is known for his or her ethics and integrity, and has demonstrated management skills. The selected candidate is expected to assume the roles and responsibilities of the Editor-in-Chief, including the selection of associate editors, governance of the editorial board, and ensuring that the standards of the journal are maintained. The period of service will be two years, renewable for one additional term.
The current editorial board consists of 8 Executive Editorial Committee members and a chair, 8 Area Editors, and up to 100 Editors. Five topical areas are set for physical layer communications and 3 topical areas for MAC and wireless networks. The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for appointing Editorial Board members, setting goals, updating topical areas, overseeing the review process, handling appeals, and handling cases of plagiarism, among other duties.
Eligibility:
The candidate must have a strong record of editorial activities and demonstrated research excellence in communications and signal processing. According to the charter, the candidate must also be a member of IEEE Communications Society.
Selection Process:
The steering committee will accept nominations for the EiC position until 23 April 2018. Based on an evaluation of all EiC candidates, a ranked short list will be generated, and the final, selected candidate will be passed to the Communications Society President in consultation with the Signal Processing Society President to make the final appointment.
