New Academic Posts in Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Lecturer salary in the range £45,040 - £50,190 per annum
Senior Lecturer/Reader minimum starting salary: £55,340 per annum
We are seeking to make up to four faculty appointments in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The appointments will be at Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level, although an appointment at Reader will be considered for an exceptional candidate.
The appointees will be expected to plan and direct the implementation of research activities and programmes of outstanding quality, international repute and innovation, and to advance the reputation of the Department and the College. Applicants must have a PhD (or equivalent) in electronic engineering, computer engineering, or a related field. Successful appointees must have an outstanding research record as demonstrated by their publications, and a strong track record in attracting research funding. Appointees will be expected to teach courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels so teaching experience is highly desirable. The level of the appointment will reflect the qualifications of the candidate; details of the expected experience and skills at each level are provided in the attached Person Specification.
Two openings are available in the area of Energy Systems. The first area is the exploitation of smart grid concepts for integration of low carbon technologies, including de-centralised control and operation, agent based modelling, data-driven model development, robust inference methods, stochastic control, and ICT for smartgrid applications . The second specific area of interest is power electronics for High Voltage DC, encompassing the design and optimisation of power converters and their control as part of a DC transmission system.
One or two further appointments will be made, for which we will consider applicants in all the research areas in which the department is involved. Research in the department is conducted in our five research groups: Control and Power; Intelligent Systems and Networks; Circuits and Systems; Communications and Signal Processing; and Optical and Semiconductor Devices. Appointees in this field will be expected to play a leading role in the College’s recently announced Data Science Institute.
