Open faculty positions and research chairs in Portugal

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), Portugal, is seeking candidates for several faculty positions at the following levels:

  • full professor with endowed chair (partly funded through the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, FCT)
  • assistant or associate professor (supported by FCT through the CarnegieMellon|Portugal Program and other sources)

Exciting long-term partnerships have been initiated with Carnegie Mellon, MIT and UT Austin, which include very close collaboration in research and graduate education. In the case of Carnegie Mellon the international partnership includes a dual degree PhD program in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

A doctorate in electrical and computer engineering, or in an equivalent field, is required at the time of employment. The salary for an assistant professor is around 45,000 euros per year, before taxes. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research and teach graduate and undergraduate classes. All teaching can be carried out in English.
