Description: The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) invites applications for a postdoctoral position under the guidance and assistance of Associate Professor Natasha Devroye . The research will focus on expressing, computing, and interpreting the capacity of the zero-error relay channel, and making connections with graph theory, combinatorics, coding theory, and the small or epsilon-error capacity of the relay channel. Duties: The postdoctoral researcher will receive career mentoring, opportunities to organize and host seminars, collaborate with researchers in UIC’s Mathematics Department (Dhruv Mubayi) as well as other Midwestern researchers, and present work at international venues.
Qualifications: Candidates with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related areas with experience in one of network information theory (ideally the relay channel), combinatorics (ideally the Shannon capacity of graphs or extremal combinatorics) are encouraged to apply. Strong and self-motivated candidates should also have good communication skills (writing, presenting), and a strong mathematical background and maturity.
