The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the National University of Singapore is offering positions for postdoctoral fellows who will work at the intersection of information theory and machine learning. Some sample topics include: Learning in the large alphabet regime, and learning of graphical models and other statistical models using information-theoretic ideas. Working in traditional Shannon information theory is also strongly encouraged. Some topics of interest include: strong converse techniques, finite blocklength analysis, error exponent analysis, and multi-user information theory.
Each position is expected to last for 2 years. The candidate is expected to have a PhD in electrical engineering, computer science or mathematics and a strong publication record in information theory, signal processing or machine learning. The candidate will work closely with Dr. Vincent Tan and will use the postdoctoral stint to develop a strong research profile that will enable him/her to find a good faculty position in 2 years.
