The Information Theory Society Paper Award is given annually for an outstanding publication in the fields of interest to the Society appearing anywhere during the preceding four calendar years.
The 2025 ITSoc Paper Award was decided by the Board of Governors during their Annual Meeting in July and announced during the ISIT 2025 awards ceremony. The award will be formally presented at ISIT 2026 next year.
The winning papers of this year's award are:
Galen Reeves and Henry D. Pfister, “Reed–Muller Codes on BMS Channels Achieve Vanishing Bit-Error Probability for all Rates Below Capacity”, in IEEE Transactions on Information Theory ( Volume: 70, Issue: 2, February 2024).
and
Emmanuel Abbe and Colin Sandon, “A proof that Reed-Muller codes achieve Shannon capacity on symmetric channels”, in Proceedings of the 2023 IEEE 64th Annual Symposium on Foundations of Computer Science (FOCS).
