First African Winter School on Information Theory and Communications
The African Winter School on Information Theory and Communications 2010 will take place at Mopani Camp in the Kruger National Park, the largest game reserve in South Africa, from June 1st until June 4th. Organized by the Telecommunications Research Group of the University of Johannesburg , the goal of the winter school is to provide opportunities for increased co-operation and knowledge sharing between African students, universities and research institutes.
Doctoral students and young faculty staff members, from Africa and other continents, are encouraged to present their ongoing research and discuss it with international experts. Students are welcome to make presentations irrespective of the phase of their research. All submitted summaries will be informally reviewed by the technical chair. The number of topics will not be limited and we hope to have a wide range of presentations in the Information Theory and Communications field.
Study leaders are also encouraged to attend in order to establish more high-level co-operation between African and other universities. Although the focus is on young researchers, there will be limited recent results sessions for more established researchers to also present their work.
Internationally acclaimed researchers in Information Theory and Communications are also being invited to present tutorials.
