The IEEE Information Theory Society (ITSoc) invites nominations for the position of Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the IEEE Transactions on Information Theory for a 2-year term (extendable for additional two years), starting on July 1, 2023. The nominee must be an ITSoc member in good standing, have editorial experience, and a strong research record in information theory and related fields. The Society endorses an inclusive culture and encourages nominations of candidates that would further improve its diversity.
The EiC will be responsible for defining and achieving the Transactions’ strategic objectives and managing its day-to-day operations at Manuscript Central. The IEEE Transactions on Information Theory has an Editorial Board structure that includes Area Editors and Associate Editors. The EiC will identify all editors, and their appointments will be subject to approval by the ITSoc Board of Governors (BoG). Together with the Editorial Board, the EiC is responsible for handling submissions, communicating with authors, and monitoring publications’ quality and timeliness. The EiC will report to the Society’s BoG and interact with IEEE. The EiC will be a voting member of the BoG.
Nomination letters should include a brief synopsis (up to two pages) of the nominee’s relevant editorial and technical expertise, as well as leadership and service records. The nominator may append a statement of up to 500 words from the nominee describing their vision for the journal. The nomination should be submitted online by March 15, 2023. Self-nominations are permitted. EiC selection will be made by the ITSoc Nominations and Appointments Committee, and is subject to approval by the ITSoc Board of Governors.
