Get Connected with Your Local Information Theory Chapter

The IEEE Information Theory Society (ITSoc) has Chapters and Joint Chapters around the world, which organize local events for members. Getting involved in your local Chapter is a great way to meet your peers, attend events and lectures, and expand your personal and professional growth as a volunteer.

Start or Manage an ITSoc Chapter

Interested in starting a new Chapter in your area? ITSoc provides new Chapters with a $1,000 grant to support initial activities. To get started, review IEEE's Geographic Unit Formation Policies and Petitions. For assistance with this process, or other Chapter related matters, please contact the Chapters Liaison on the Membership Committee.

If you already lead a Chapter, you can update your officer roster and submit activity reports through vTools. To learn more, view the vTools tutorials.

Chapter Programs

  • Chapter of the Year Award: Each year, ITSoc honors a Chapter for its outstanding programs and activities. For more information, visit the Chapter of the Year Award page.
