Biography

Bernhard C. Geiger (S’07, M’14, SM’19) was born in Graz, Austria, in 1984. He received the Dipl.-Ing. degree in electrical engineering (with distinction) and the Dr. techn. degree in electrical and information engineering (with distinction) from Graz University of Technology, Austria, in 2009 and 2014, respectively. In 2009 he joined the Signal Processing and Speech Communication Laboratory, Graz University of Technology, as a Project Assistant and took a position as a Research and Teaching Associate at the same lab in 2010. He was a Senior Scientist and Erwin Schrödinger Fellow at the Institute for Communications Engineering, Technical University of Munich, Germany from 2014 to 2017 and a postdoctoral researcher at the Signal Processing and Speech Communication Laboratory, Graz University of Technology, Austria from 2017 to 2018. He is currently a Senior Researcher at Know-Center GmbH, Graz, Austria. His research interests cover information theory for machine learning and informationtheoretic model reduction for Markov chains and hidden Markov models.
