Biography

Dr. Suayb S. Arslan is the lead of Distributed Systems, Network, and Storage laboratory (DSNS Lab: www.dsnslab.com) and serves as a professor in the Department of Computer Engineering at MEF University, Istanbul, Turkey. Prof. Arslan has several years of experience working both in the academia and private sectors in research, teaching, consulting, project management, including the current institution, University of Nantes (France) as well as Quantum Corporation (Irvine, US), MERL (Boston, US) and Huawei(Istanbul). Prof. Arslan holds a Ph.d. degree from University of California, San Diego (2012). Prof. Arslan is a member of IEEE (ComSoc, Information Theory societies). His current research interests include digital communications and data storage, information/coding/reliability theory, cloud computing, decentralized ecosystems, and Internet of things. Prof. Arslan is the author of over 40 papers (mostly IEEE), holds 15 US patents. He is an associate editor of Elsevier IoT Journal and chaired multiple sessions in ICC and Globecom. He has also chaired several special sessions on data storage in IEEE SIU in Turkey. As an active member of DSTC, he’s been part of the TPC of the storage track of ICC and Globecom since 2015 among other TPC activities.  He is also an industry member of the INSIC Consortium.
